Mason LGBT Faculty/Staff Alliance

Draft Mission Statement

The mission of Mason LGBT Faculty/Staff Alliance shall be to advocate at George Mason University for a campus that is safe, inclusive, and supportive with regard to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, (LGBT) and Allied faculty, staff, and students.


Membership is open to any employees of George Mason University. Please fill out the membership form to become part of the group.

Public Disclosure

Mason LGBT Faculty/Staff Alliance and/or attendance at Alliance events (monthly meetings, committee meetings, on-campus social events, or off-campus social events) in no way requires that you publicly disclose your name/identity/affiliation. Meeting minutes list the names of members and/or visitors in attendance who have opted to publicly disclose. Individuals who would prefer their name not be included in the minutes may send an e-mail to or may let the Secretary know before, during or after the meeting. The Mason LGBT Faculty/Staff Alliance Membership Form includes a section for new members to indicate their preference regarding public disclosure.


The Program Committee is responsible for educational, cultural and social programming for the University community.

The Finance Committee is responsible for fundraising and financing support of all committees.

The Campus & Community Outreach Committee is responsible for facilitating student development through mentoring, advising and expanding inclusiveness in university programs, and promoting the mission of the Mason LGBT Faculty/Staff Alliance across the campus and into the larger community.

The Scholarship Committee is responsible for administration of the Scholarship for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered Activism scholarship, including disseminating information about the scholarship, soliciting applications, and choosing the recipient(s).
